Trent Bridge closes both ways 9.20am to 10.20am on Sunday 27 September, and Loughborough Road loses a lane from 6am. Straight from the organiser's timings.

The Robin Hood Half Marathon is on Sunday 27 September 2026, starting at 9.30am on Victoria Embankment. It is the 45th running, and entries have sold out.

Here is the part that matters if you live on this side of the river: the 2026 race route does not come into West Bridgford at all, but the closures still cut your two main ways into Nottingham.

The closures that affect West Bridgford

These come from the organiser’s own temporary traffic restrictions timetable, published by Goldline Events and linked from the travel information page:

The single hour to plan around is 9.20am to 10.20am, when Trent Bridge itself is shut both ways. That is the runners crossing the bottom of London Road in the opening mile.

The Loughborough Road lane closure runs all day, from 6am to 4.20pm, on the northbound approach to Trent Bridge. It is a lane, not a full closure, but it removes the Trent Bridge turn from that approach for more than ten hours.

Lady Bay Bridge and Clifton Bridge are not in the timetable. Neither appears anywhere in the organiser’s list of closures or lane closures, so both should be available as alternative crossings. Radcliffe Road is not listed either.

Is there a Forest match to make it worse?

No, on the fixture list as it stands. BBC Sport’s Nottingham Forest schedule for September 2026 shows three games, all on Saturdays: Tottenham at home on 5 September, Aston Villa away on 12 September and Coventry City at home on 19 September. Nothing is listed for the weekend of 26 and 27 September.

That is worth checking again nearer the time, because a City Ground event triggers the separate Lady Bay Bridge matchday closure order, and losing Lady Bay and Trent Bridge on the same morning would leave the town with one crossing.

Parking restrictions the day before

No waiting and no parking apply from midday on Saturday 26 September to 4pm on Sunday 27 September on Church Street between Lenton Boulevard and Gregory Street, on the whole of Triumph Road, and on the south side of Bathley Street between Wilford Grove and Glapton Road. All three are on the city side.

One oddity in the organiser’s own document. The first row of the closure table gives the Victoria Embankment and Wilford Grove closure as starting “Fri 26th 12.00”, but 26 September 2026 is a Saturday, and the parking rows in the same document correctly say “Sat 26th”. Read that first row as Saturday.

The route, and why it misses us

The 2026 course is a single lap, 13.1 miles, starting and finishing on Victoria Embankment. By the organiser’s own list of road names it runs London Road, Queens Road, Carrington Street, Canal Street, Maid Marian Way, Friar Lane, through the Park Estate, out along Derby Road and Ilkeston Road to Wollaton Park, then back via Lenton, Castle Boulevard, Wilford Street and the Meadows to the Embankment.

Not one West Bridgford or Rushcliffe road is on it. The disruption here is entirely about the runners crossing the river approaches, not about the race passing your door.

If you are running or spectating

  • Race start 9.30am. Entry was from £48 and the 2026 half marathon has sold out. VIP entry was £80 and includes a second t-shirt, a private finish viewing area, a post-race meal and a massage. VIP guest passes at £20 have also sold out.
  • Both official car parks must be booked with your entry, and the red one at Victoria Embankment (NG2 2GJ) is sold out. The green one is Queens Drive Park and Ride (NG2 1AP), which the organiser flags as a 1.5-mile walk to the race village with no bus service on the day. Car parks open at 6.30am, permits must be displayed, and all cars must be parked by 9am.
  • The tram is the sensible option from this side. NET line 2 runs from Compton Acres, Ruddington Lane and Wilford Lane; the organiser recommends Clifton Park and Ride and points spectators to the Riverside Way stop as the nearest access to the race village. See our trains and travel page.
  • Trains are close to useless for the start. The organiser says there are “very limited trains into the station on a Sunday morning before the start of the race”.
  • If you have an unavoidable commitment inside the closures, the organisers ask you to contact them in advance on 0778 813 7117 or info@goldlineevents.co.uk rather than on the day.

What is still to come

The organiser’s 2026 Race Guide is marked “coming soon” and the resident information page asks people to check back for changes before race day. Closure times can move. The timetable above is the version published as of 3 September 2026 and we will refresh it in race week.
