A petition over A52 lane closures passed 4,900 signatures in about a day, and NCT reports severe delays around Nottingham Knight. Checked 5 November 2026.
A petition against the A52 lane closures had 4,937 signatures early on Thursday, about a day after it was started. Nottingham City Transport says the works are now causing “severe delays” across its services in the south of the city.
The petition went up late on Tuesday 3 November. The page lists its starter as Hetvi Parekh, local councillor for Edwalton ward in Rushcliffe. (Change.org)
What the petition says
Its headline claim is “25-minute journeys taking 90 minutes”. It also says pupils are arriving late at school and that lanes stay closed when no work appears to be happening. Those are the petition’s own descriptions, and we have not measured journey times.
It asks National Highways to:
- review the lane closures and remove any no longer needed, subject to safety
- look at other arrangements outside working hours
- reschedule work or restrictions away from the school run and commuter peaks
- assess the effect on nearby roads, schools, residents and businesses
- publish clearer information on works, closures and completion dates
- meet local councillors and community representatives
What the bus operator is reporting
NCT’s service page dates its Nottingham Knight notice from Wednesday 4 November, with no end date. It says lane closures at the roundabout are causing “severe delays to all Navy, Green and Grey Line services, as well as Pathfinder 90”. It blames queuing and displaced traffic, and says works at Wheatcroft and on Radcliffe Road are adding to the delays. (NCT, service updates)
The operator lists four other jobs on the same side of the city:
- A52 near Gamston: closed overnight, 8pm to 6am, on the nights of Wednesday 4 to Friday 6 November. Green 12 and 12C are diverted.
- A60 Loughborough Road: works between Nottingham Knight and Ruddington since 3 November. Green 10, 10A and 10C are diverted through Landmere Lane, Europa Way and Wilford Road, with severe delays.
- Abbey Road, West Bridgford: works since 3 November. Green 12, 12C and 12E stay in Davies Road and miss the Abbey Road stops.
- Radcliffe Road: daytime works from 2 November to 4 December.
The county council says the Radcliffe Road job is a wider toucan crossing at Cyril Road, with two-way temporary lights from 9.30am to 3.30pm. The first phase ends on 4 December. Work resumes on 4 January 2027. (Nottinghamshire County Council, 4 November)
What National Highways has published
National Highways’ scheme page was last updated on 21 August. We checked it again on 5 November, and it gives no traffic management details for the Nottingham Knight work now under way. (National Highways)
That August update says:
- Wheatcroft utility work runs for three months from 7 September, with lane closures and a 40mph limit
- after 2 October, the Wheatcroft lane closures “will return to weekdays only”
- Nottingham Knight utility work is “due to start in November 2026, lasting for four months”
- “further information about traffic management and road closures will be shared in advance”
- the overall scheme runs from September 2026 until spring 2029
The petition’s question about closures outside working hours sits against that second line. We have not seen a National Highways document that sets out the closure hours now in force at either junction.
What it means for you
- Allow extra time on any bus from the south side of the city. NCT lists 24 route numbers under its Nottingham Knight notice.
- Check National Highways, not the county, for the A52. The county does not run that road, and our West Bridgford roadworks page sets out who runs what.
- To raise a problem with the scheme, the published address is A52NottinghamJunctions@nationalhighways.co.uk.
- On this four-month timetable, Nottingham Knight utility work runs into early 2027. Main construction follows it.
Our September report on the Wheatcroft works has the earlier closures and diversion maps.
