All 25 tram strike days to 31 December are off after GMB members backed a 3.7% pay deal. Trams run as normal, including half term and Christmas Eve.
The 25 tram strike days planned between now and the end of December have been called off. Trams are running to every stop as normal, including today, which was meant to be the first strike day.
Nottingham Express Transit (NET) said on Tuesday evening that all the strike days in October, November and December had been cancelled. (NET service status)
Why the strikes are off
NET says GMB members have voted to accept a revised pay offer. It includes:
- a 3.7% pay rise
- 7% for the lowest paid roles
- what NET calls “improved conditions” for all staff
That is higher than the 3.3% NET described in September as its “final improved offer”. GMB had been asking for 4.1%. (NET, 18 September 2026)
Sarah Turner, NET’s managing director, said the offer “has now successfully received ballot approval”.
“As a result, GMB has agreed to cancel this winter’s proposed strike action which was scheduled to begin on Thursday 22nd October, and all tram users can expect our regular service going forward,” she said.
She added that NET understood “the frustration and distress caused by the notice of proposed strike action as well as the recent Goose Fair strikes”.
GMB had not published its own statement on the deal when we checked on Thursday morning.
The dates that are now normal
The strikes would have stopped Line 2 at all four West Bridgford stops: Wilford Lane, Wilford Village, Compton Acres and Ruddington Lane. In the last round, in September and October, NET ran no trams at all on strike days.
These days now have a normal service:
- Thursday 22, Friday 23 and Friday 30 October, in the October half term
- Saturday 21 November, the West Bridgford Christmas lights switch-on
- Saturday 5 December, the Trent Bridge drone light show
- Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve
- every Friday and Saturday of the Christmas shopping season that had been named
Our earlier report on the 25 dates has the full list as GMB announced it on 9 October.
What it means for you
- You do not need to change any plans. Trams run to the normal timetable on every date that had been named.
- This weekend is still disrupted by road, not tram. The A52 westbound Gamston Link Road at Wheatcroft is closed from 8pm Friday 23 October to 6am Monday 26 October. Our roadworks page has the detail.
Live running information stays on NET’s service status page.
