Cotgrave Country Park now has two accessible waterless toilets, a solar-powered cabin for volunteers and a seating area by the coffee van. Hours may be limited at first.
Cotgrave Country Park now has public toilets. Two accessible waterless toilets opened on Friday 30 October, alongside a new cabin and a seating area in the middle of the park.
Nottinghamshire County Council runs the park, about five miles east of West Bridgford. Its chairman, Councillor Christopher Adegoke, opened the new facilities at an event in the park. (Nottinghamshire County Council, 30 October 2026)
What is new
Everything is in the area used by the Ginger and Blue coffee van, opposite the Green Roof Shelters:
- two accessible toilets that need no water, electricity or chemicals. The council says they use the sun and wind to evaporate and dry the waste.
- a timber-clad cabin powered by solar panels, with battery storage and a back-up generator for heating and lighting
- a surfaced pitch for the coffee van, with an electric hook-up
- permanent seating nearby
The cabin is a base for the park’s site manager, its volunteers and the Friends of Cotgrave Country Park, and somewhere to run events from. The council says it will later be available for other groups to hire for meetings and activities, and for school groups.
Who paid
The council says the work was “mainly funded” by developer contributions from two nearby housing developments, Hollygate Park and Mill Lane. It has not published the cost.
Arc Partnership, a joint venture between the county council and SCAPE, designed and delivered the project.
Councillor Bert Bingham, the county’s cabinet member for transport and environment, said the cabin “will give our site team, volunteers and Friends of Cotgrave Country Park a much-needed base”. He said the investment showed money from nearby developments being “put back into the local community and its green spaces”.
What it means for you
- The toilets may not be open all day yet. The council says they are meant for daily public use, but “initially they may operate at limited times”. Opening times will be posted at the park.
- If your group needs a meeting space, the cabin is expected to be available to hire. No booking details or prices have been published.
- The coffee van now has a proper pitch and seating, in the area it already uses.
More days out are on our things to do in West Bridgford page. Across the borough, Rushcliffe Country Park’s BMX track has also just had a £30,000 upgrade.
